BLACK has developed private full and half-day wine experiences from Queenstown, allowing you to explore these unique climates and savour the exceptional red and white varietals produced in this remarkable region.

In true BLACK fashion, we have cultivated exclusive relationships with wineries and winemakers to offer truly unique and unmatched wine experiences across Central Otago, all wine tours are privately hosted by expert and passionate wine connoisseurs.

Choose from a full-day or half-day private luxury wine tour, exploring the exquisite Gibbston Valley from Queenstown or venturing deeper into Central Otago. You will be transported to top wine locations – some with exclusive access – via luxury SUV, Mercedes Sprinters or Helicopter depending on your group size, comfort levels and requirements.

Each experience is hosted by a highly professional, local, wine-certified guide, you will visit three – five wine locations (depending on the duration of your tour) with all tastings included. Additional options include meeting the winemakers and even creating your own wine. You can also add gourmet food experiences and helicopter transfers for a truly elevated wine adventure.

PICK UP / MEET TOUR HOST

Your wine-certified BLACK guide will pick you up from your Queenstown accommodation or desired pick-up location in a luxury vehicle.

TRANSPORT TO GIBBSTON

Journey to Gibbston (the Valley of Vines) from your pick-up location, approximately a 30-minute drive from Queenstown. Your host will share information about the history of winemaking in the area while you enjoy the spectacular scenery along the way.

TASTING AT COX’S VINEYARD

Cox’s is a single vineyard producer, where they embrace the subtle variations in thier wine from year to year. Proud of their perfectly positioned vineyard Cox’s produces world-renowned Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grapes, credited for the quality and complexity often hard to achieve from a single vineyard. Enjoy a private tasting in an intimate cellar door, often hosted by the winemaker himself, surrounded by a beautiful art collection that enhances the unique experience.

TASTINGS & LUNCH AT KINROSS

Welcome to Kinross a boutique cellar door representing wine producers across the region. Try renowned wines from a variety of labels before enjoying a Bistro style lunch.

TASTINGS AT PEREGRINE

Visit Peregrine, a winery and vineyard passionate about land conservation. Enjoy a tasting at their architecturally stunning cellar door and winery in Gibbston, followed by their Beyond the Barrels experience, which provides an exceptional insight into wine making in Central Otago and Peregrine.

RETURN TO YOUR ACCOMODATION

Your guide will transport you back to your Queenstown accommodation or desired location, with options to helicopter back.

TASTINGS AT COX’S VINEYARD

Start your wine journey at Cox’s Vineyard, a distinguished single vineyard producer known for its exceptional Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Here, you’ll enjoy a private tasting in an intimate cellar door, often hosted by the winemaker himself. Surround yourself with a captivating art collection that enhances this unique tasting experience, showcasing the subtle variations in their wines from year to year.

TRANSPORT TO BANNOCKBURN / TASTINGS AT MATT CONNELLS

Carry on deeper into the Central Otago sub region of Bannockburn through the Kawarau Gorge. Matt Connell is known for his uncompromising approach to make textural wines of finesse, with poise and elegance. Enjoy tastings and learn about the history and story of his vineyard, wine making techniques and what makes them so special.

LUNCH AT BANNOCKBURN HOTEL

Enjoy a five course lunch at the historic Bannockburn Hotel, where the menu features locally sourced ingredients and dishes crafted to an extensive wine list, showcasing the best in the region.

TASTINGS AT MISHA’S

After lunch, head to Misha’s Tasting Room overlooking Lake Dunstan in Cromwell, where they create a repertoire of elegant cool climate wines. Everything is created by hand during the winemaking process, including hand plunging.

TASTINGS AT PEREGRINE

Journey back from Cromwell to Gibbston. Finish your wine-tasting adventure at Peregrine, renowned for its dedication to conservation and land. Enjoy a tasting at their architecturally stunning cellar door, followed by the Beyond the Barrels experience, offering exceptional insights into the winemaking process and the unique attributes of Central Otago wine.
