About
Leading the way in delivering exceptional luxury experiences, Black is deeply committed to sustainable and responsible practices. Our ethos revolves around cherishing the environment, nurturing local communities, and honouring the rich heritage of our region.
Our approach isn’t just about exploration; it’s a journey intertwined with passionate locals who host you. It’s a platform for them to share their stories, history, and the collective narrative of this area. We prioritise the well-being and continuous growth of our guides.
Aligned with New Zealand’s Tiaki Promise, choosing Black means actively supporting the well-being of both the community and the environment. Every organisation and business we endorse shares our commitment to these values.
Community sustainability is a core part of our mission. By deliberately guiding guests toward small towns and locally owned businesses, we help strengthen regional economies, fostering mutual support and shared prosperity.
Our adventures are thoughtfully crafted to minimise environmental impact. With deep respect for Aotearoa’s landscapes, our guides share responsible travel practices and strive to leave every place better than they found it. Small, private groups reduce pressure on ecosystems and enhance the authenticity of each experience.
Sustainability at Black is holistic. We aim to create meaningful, positive impacts — for the land, the people, and the future of tourism in the South Island.
OUR VEHICLES
Our fleet reflects our commitment to low-emission travel, combining luxury with responsibility.
We operate a Mercedes eVito electric vehicle and a Range Rover PHEV, and we’re actively transitioning to electric wherever conditions allow. We also prioritise manufacturers like Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz, who lead the way in sustainable innovation — from net carbon-neutral production sites to designing vehicles for longevity and reduced emissions across their lifecycle. This approach rejects planned obsolescence and aligns with our goal of a greener future.
Sustainability at BLACK is holistic. We strive to create meaningful, positive impacts — for the land, the people, and the future of tourism in the South Island. Our efforts align with the ambitious sustainability goals of our parent company, Tourism Innovation Group, and support the regional Love Queenstown pledge.
